As many of you may know,
Guy has been working in the vineyards and wineries in the
Southern Hemisphere for a number of years. What started as
an opportunity to work 2 harvests each year (since the
seasons are opposite, the Southern Hemisphere harvests
grapes in March/April, the opposite of our California
vineyard) has turned into a passion to create wines that
express a perfect and unique varietal match to the
microclimate where the grapes are grown.
What we mean is that
Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand is unlike Sauvignon Blanc
from anywhere else in the world! The experience of working
multiple harvests around the world has phenomenal! The
people and the grapes we work with are some of the best in
the world.
In New Zealand, our
sauvignon Blanc is from some of the oldest vineyards in
Marlborough, the region we have defined as the best within
the best for Sauvignon Blanc. We blend 2 different
Marlborough vineyards to achieve the right combination of
the floral, fresh herbs and bright acidity from our cooler
Brancott block and the exotic tropical fruits, rich body and
lush mouthfeel from the Rapaura block.
The result is amazing
and unmatched on a summer day or night! After learning, and
loving the personality of these grapes, in 1999 our new
international label -- GUSTO -- "was born" and has already
been listed in the "Top 100 Wines of the World!" |
