We have made this wine every year since our first release
in 1997. It is a blend of 2 special Napa Vineyards, both
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the vineyards, the Wight
Vineyard, has been a staple in the blend every single
vintage. That vineyard is located in the foothills of
the Mayacamas Mtns in the middle of the Napa Valley
between the towns of St. Helena and Rutherford – it
brings a rich red current and wonderful spice to the
wine each and every year. The other component comes from
Stagecoach Vineyard. We get all of the steep Block 13 at
the 2200 foot summit overlooking Napa Valley. This rocky
piece of Mountain Cabernet adds a dense, concentrated
black cherry intensity that is highlighted by cocoa and
coffee notes…very dark, deep aromas and flavors. Both
are spectacular wines while in the barrels as separate
lots – but always better and even more expressive as a
combination when blended in just the right proportion.
Again as you see these tasting notes and smell and taste
the wine you will be able to pick out the individual
characteristics of each and also enjoy the harmony of
the blend.
