Cabernet
for the true Cabernet lover! 2 small vineyards in Napa
Valley make up this blend - 75% from the foothills near the
Rutherford/St. Helena border, that vineyard brings the ripe
cherry and cassis, trimmed in exotic aromas of cedar and
sun-baked thyme – the other piece is an older 1 acre
vineyard we farm north of Calistoga -- it adds the
blackberry fruit and darker layers like coffee, cocoa and
tobacco to the rich, layered blend.
The combination is truly
masculine and powerful, like great Cabernet should be… but
even as consistently rich and full flavored as this wine is
(the ‘97 was named in the “Top 20 Wines of the Vintage"
by the New York Times and the 2001 recently received
a 93 point score) it finishes with a delightful,
smooth texture – tannins that are mouth coating yet supple; drinkable
yet age-worthy.
Always limited and always a winner. |
