12 years ago Guy planted 2
acres of Chave clone Syrah in our Estate vineyard that has
grown into a cult favorite amongst Syrah fans. Inspired by
the wines of Cote Rotie in the Northern Rhone, this cool
climate gem is fermented with a small portion of Viognier
grapes to boost extraction and aromas. This block named
after Guy is always our last to harvest, usually into the
first week of November. The wine always reflects a harmony
between its Old World roots/techniques and the California
sunshine in which it is grown the combination is all
about complexity the aromas open with peppery red and
black fruits that are enhanced by violets and sun baked
herbs a smoky nuance will surface as it opens in the
glass, the layers keep unfolding through the meal, showing
its exotic side right through to the mouthcoating finish.
This Syrah was featured in the February 2008 issue of Wine
and Spirits Magazine in their cover story "The Worldıs
Best Syrahs"
Guy is extremely proud of
this wine each vintage, only 440 cases have been made and
it is a steal at $40.

The Wine Advocate's Robert Parker on our
2006 Syrah:
A
sensational discovery, this 2006 Syrah from a two and
one-half acre block was co-fermented with 3% Viognier.
Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by an
exquisite nose of blackberries, spring flowers, earth,
and subtle wood. In the mouth, the wine exhibits
beautiful concentration, peppery, creme de cassis
flavors, good acidity, and ripe tannin. Its
seamlessness, purity, complexity, and length are all
impressive. It can be drunk now and over the next 5-7
years. Four hundred and twenty cases were produced.
94pts.
