Bright and refreshing, this wine truly embodies all that is spring. The 2011 vintage was exceptionally cool, resulting in a lean, aromatic Chardonnay- reflective of Chablis with its display of Meyer lemon, green apple, baking spices, wildflowers and mouthwatering acidity. This Chardonnay is organically farmed from our estate vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Each year our goal is to achieve the seamless balance between the old world and the new world, while maintaining "a sense of place" or terroir –- the special characteristics of a region that share similar soil and weather conditions that are unique to that one place on earth. In addition to this focus on terroir, we always strive to highlight the subtle nuances that make each vintage distinct.

Our Chardonnay is organically farmed from estate vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The Chardonnay block on Soul Patch Vineyard sits at the very bottom of the eastern facing hillside. This is an extremely cool pocket of the vineyard, which allows the fruit longer hang time, resulting in bright, beautifully balanced acidity.


We age our Chardonnay in 30% stainless steel and 70% French oak. Of the 70% French oak, 1/3 of the barrels are new, 1/3 are 1 year old and 1/3 of the barrels are 2 years old. The fruit is whole cluster pressed and fermented on the lees, using all wild/native yeast. The 70% of the wine that is barrel aged goes through malolactic fermentation.
